Cork to Barrel delivers awesome and innovative recycled wine products to wine enthusiasts everywhere and we’ve been doing that since June 2011. Our aim is to bring quality, handmade, recycled, “Made in America” products to your home.
We are Kristin and Jeff Gaulard and live on the beautiful Massanutten mountain in Luray Virginia, right in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley. We were married at Sharp Rock Vineyard in Sperryville. Our wedding had a rustic theme and even included seating made from hay bales. Our wedding is where our first wine barrel cooler was showcased; turns out guests loved it so much, we made a few more for friends and family, then we started showing them off at wine events.
We started vending at wine festivals. The barrel cooler was our only product at the start, but as so many folks loved the cooler we expanded to making additional wine related creations. The barrels not used for coolers were now disassembled and the staves were meticulously chosen to make the wood products we sell today.
We bought ourselves a used kiln and so the “Slumped Bottle” line was born. We now have an amazing line of melted and lighted bottles. We can even custom etch and customize bottles in an unlimited number of designs.
To this day, our business encompasses just the two of us and we keep to our values to make our products ultra-authenic. We source our wine barrels and bottles from Virginia wineries as much as possible. We sell only products that have been crafted by us two. We do all our own cutting, welding, sanding, powdercoating, and finishing and love seeing to the details. We also try to use the most earth- friendly products and procedures as possible. That’s important to us.
We live by the Greek word, “Meraki.” It means to do something with love, creativity, and soul. You leave a piece of yourself in your work. We are not carpenters, but rather craftsmen. A carpenter builds things while a craftsman takes it a step further putting their heart, spirit, and passion into their work.
